Do people still say "DL". It was after my time...I was freelancing for a teen girls magazine about eight years ago and it was written in a "cool, hip" language, which included terms like "DL," and it just made me moderately happy that I am a lot older than that...
So anyway, the last of our pithy summer concert comments coming your way here, with notes from BB King's August 25th concert. which was receively mostly favorably by our audience.
Here are some comments to share, good and bad:
"I saw BB for the first time in 1971 - the last time was right before his 80th birthday - at 84 he still does a great show. I was able to take my sons last night and at 18 & 24 they got to see real musicians..."
Seveal people commented that BB spoke a lot during the concert. I am thinking that this is what he does now. The guy is 84 and half the show is singing and half is talking, heck, when (if) I 84, I hope I can stand up. But BB's talkingseemed to annoy some folks, for instance...
"Let BB know that he is a great singer. But also please pass on to him for me that he should consider more singing and less talking."
and...
"He did not play enough music. He did a lot of talking and the subject (women and viagra/the blue pill) was very tasteless. I realize you can't control the performer. He did not perform - he spoke and I did not pay $77 to hear him speak."
Which leads us to the question, do people expect a certain amount of music based on the amount they paid for a ticket -- are we now selling concerts by the pound?
Our usual round of complaints -- bathrooms lines, too hot (while some thought too cold!), etc. but I did want to point out a couple of nice things people said, because it's my space and I'll post what I want:
"What a gem this theater is! 2 miles from where I work and drawing amazing talent."
and
"The volunteers were so nice & courteous. They made me feel right at home."
...and that begs the question, who has 30 volunteers at their home!
